The Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016 is a critical topic for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, particularly under GS Paper II (Social Justice and Governance) . It replaced the PwD Act of 1995 to comply with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Key Highlights of the RPwD Act, 2016 1. 🌟India's efforts to preventive measures toward Neglected Tropical Diseases
🌟Neglected Tropical Disease day is celebrated every year on 30th january declared by 74th world health assembly 2021.
✍️NTDs are the group of Parasitic , Bacterial , protozoan infections that are prevelent in tropical and sub-tropicsl regions.
✍️These diseases mainly affect improvised people of developing countries living in abject poverty.
✍️These are called "neglected" because they are often overlooked by the mainstream healthcare system despite  their significant affect on public health.
✍️ According to the database of Elsevier Science
US and USA are predominant on NDTs.
✍️ Among global South Brazil and India ranked 3rd and 4th respectively.
✍️ India's contribution is 6% globally.
✍️ India carries the largest burden of at least 11 of these diseases with parasitic illness like kala azar and Lymphatic filariasis.

🌟 Important measures taken by India-
✍️ WHO - supported regional alliance establised by government of India on 2005 to early diagnose treatment of most vulnerable populations and control stand fly population (Kala Azar ) and Bangladesh , Nepal also involved in this initiative.
✍️Vector control measures through spraying rounds are undertaken in endemic areas to prevent stand-fly breeding.
✍️ Morbidity management and disability prevention for thise who were affected by lymphoedema and hydrocele.
✍️ Wage compensation schemes for kala azar.
✍️ Accelerated Plan for elimination of lymphatic filariasis (APELF) launched in 2018.
