The Shirui Lily (Lilium mackliniae) is a rare and endangered flower found only in the Shirui Hills of Ukhrul, Manipur. It holds cultural, ecological, and botanical significance, making it relevant for UPSC aspirants studying biodiversity conservation, environmental policies, and cultural heritage.

Habitat & Growth Conditions

Characteristics

  • Appearance: Pale bluish-pink petals, but under a microscope, it reveals seven colors.

  • Height: Grows between 1–3 feet, with 1–7 flowers per plant.

  • Medicinal Uses: Traditionally used for skin and stomach ailments.
